Speaking Practice

OUR SERVICES

At Speechology we offer support across a range of areas, including:

ARTICULATION

Articulation disorders are characterized by difficulty making sounds and forming particular speech sounds properly. While some speech sound difficulties can be a normal part of speech skill development, some children may have trouble saying certain sounds and words past the expected age.

FLUENCY

Disorders of fluency is described as an interruption in the flow of speaking characterized by atypical rate, rhythm and disfluencies (e.g. repetitions of sounds, syllables, words and phrases; sound prolongations and blocks.) Secondary behaviours may also accompany the disfluency and the person may experience psychological, emotional and social distress because of their difficulty communicating.

EXPRESSIVE, RECEPTIVE & SOCIAL LANGUAGE

Language disorders are characterized by a difficulty when talking and/or understanding language. At times there may be difficulties in the appropriate use of social language (e.g. using verbal and non verbal language in social situations.)
